When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ University Police Patrolmen’s Association/Charles L. Penn and Brian Roshong Memorial Scholarship
The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ University Police Patrolmen’s Association/Charles L. Penn and Brian Roshong Memorial Scholarship was established in 1998 by the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ University Police Patrolmen’s Association (AUPPA) Inc. This endowed fund honors Charles Lee Penn Jr. and Brian Roshong. Both men left an indelible impression on the lives of those around them.
Penn (September 26, 1948 – May 30, 1976) graduated from Canton Lehman High School and The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Penn served with The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ police force in 1973 and attended the University’s first Police Academy in 1974. After graduation, Penn accepted a commission with the United States Army and, unfortunately, died in Korea while on duty.
Roshong (March 10, 1972 – May 22, 1996) was a native of Canton, Ohio, and graduated from Perry High School in Massillon. Roshong came to The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Police Department Basic Training Academy in 1994, following a career as a military intelligence specialist in the United States Army. Roshong held positions with both the Cambridge Police Department and the City of Canton Police Department. Roshong fell victim to a fatal gunshot wound in the line of duty in 1996.
