For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Steininger, Frank and Karen Student Professional Development Faculty Fellowship
The Frank and Karen Steininger Student Professional Development Faculty Fellowship was established in 2019 by Frank and Karen Steininger in October 2019.
- Following his graduation from The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Frank started his career in public accounting in 1980 in the Cleveland office of Price Waterhouse. In 1985, he was selected to participate in the firm's international tour-of-duty program, spending two years in Johannesburg, South Africa. Frank was admitted to the firm's partnership in 1991 and transferred to the Pittsburgh office. In 1997, he transferred to Houston to work in the firm's Energy practice.
During his more than 34 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Frank has directed a wide variety of audit engagements of public and private companies in the petroleum, chemical, mining and consumer products industries. He has significant SEC reporting experience, including IPO's, equity and debt offerings and acquisitions, and he has significant international business experience.
In 2014, Frank retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers and joined Civeo Corporation as Chief Financial Officer. Civeo is a publicly traded company in Houston, providing accommodations and hospitality services to energy companies in Canada, Australia and the United States. Frank is actively involved in Junior Achievement and currently serves on the Board and Executive Committee. He and his wife, Karen (also a ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ graduate), reside in Houston. The Steiningers have two sons, Sean and Matthew.
Frank and Karen are active contributors to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ where Frank serves on the Advisory Board. Frank is also a member of the Foundation Board. In honor of their contributions and service to the School, they have agreed to establish this fund to award faculty who oversee student professional development activities. The faculty members doing so will be going above and beyond the typical level of service.
REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTION
The Frank and Karen Steininger Student Professional Development Faculty Fellowship requirements are as follows:
- The Fellow will be selected from the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy faculty for a one-year term that may be renewed. Tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenured track faculty members are eligible.
- The selection will be conducted by the Chair of the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy (SOA), the Dean of the College of Business Administration (CBA), and Frank Steininger or his designee.
3. The Fellow will be responsible for overseeing and executing student professional development (SPD) activities throughout the year. Expectations are as follows:
- The Fellow must demonstrate substantial commitment, time, and effort to lead and implement SPD activities crucial to student success and the mission of the SOA.
- The SOA has identified a specific series of SPD activities. Examples are listed below and can evolve over time:

- School of Accountancy Symposium
- Pre-evening with the Accountant Events and Workshops
- Professional Development Course Credit
- build the activities into each course, load the students into the program, and monitor student progress
- Course coordinator and mentor for Internships
- Faculty advisor for the Beta Alpha Psi and Accounting Association student organizations
- Assist with the Evening with the Accountants (EWA) event
- Assist with on-ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ interviews
- Assist with coordination of speakers for the Tax Colloquium
- Assist with program promotional material related to SPD activities
- Assist with the CPA field test event
- Assist with joint meetings with the Tax Executive InstituteThe Fellow is responsible for setting program content, arranging for speakers, coordinating communication, registration, logistics, and supplies for the applicable SPD activities.

- The Fellow will produce a one-page annual report of his or her accomplishments and submit it to the Chair of the Daverio School of Accountancy by the last day of the spring semester for annual review.
- The Fellow will be appropriately recognized on email, the CBA web-page, the SOA web-page and other appropriate media.
