When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Walcott, Betty Gill and Donald P. Walcott Endowed Scholarship

Betty Gill Walcott is a life long member of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ community and attended The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Mrs. Walcott and her husband were both first generation college students. She is a member of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Foundation Board of Trustees. Don Walcott had an outstanding career as Purchasing Manager with the corporate offices of the BFGoodrich Company.

Mrs. Walcott established this scholarship in memory of her late husband, a member of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Class of 1958, and to reflect her strong belief in the value of higher education. The scholarship is to provide tuition, books, fees, room and board for deserving students in the College of Business Administration.

The Betty Gill and Donald P. Walcott Endowed Scholarship will provide full academic undergraduate scholarships to deserving College of Business Administration students selected by the Dean of the College of Business Administration in cooperation with the Office of Financial Aid. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ must demonstrate financial need, and preference will be given to students who are employed while attending The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ. Additionally, students must maintain at least a 3.25 grade point average or the equivalent of a Dean's List grade point average, and must exhibit scholarship and leadership within the College of Business Administration. The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Foundation Board of Trustees have the power to change the description of the scholarship if, in the future, it is determined the scholarship is not consistent with the mission of the College of Business Administration.
