Named scholarships & funds

When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Vazquez, Dr. Luis and Bonnie Memorial Scholarship

The Dr. Luis and Bonnie Vazquez Memorial Scholarship was established in 2021 by the children of Dr. and Mrs. Vazquez: Luis, Mark, Roger, Lori, Rebecca and Michael. All their children are graduates of St. Clairsville High School and two of their children, Dr. Roger Vazquez (BS, 81) and Michael Vazquez (BA 91, MA 93) are graduates of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.

Dr. and Mrs. Vazquez provided decades of medical service to the community of St. Clairsville as physician and nurse. In addition, Dr. Vazquez served on the St. Clairsville School Board and volunteered for decades as the Red Devils' team physician. After the passing of Dr. Vazquez in 2006, Mrs. Vazquez continued a lifetime of service by volunteering for various organizations in St. Clairsville, including St. Mary's Catholic Church, until her passing in 2021.

It is with great hope that the recipients of this scholarship take advantage of this opportunity to continue forward in life with the same dedication to service and education as Dr. and Mrs. Vazquez.
