Named scholarships & funds

When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Chick, David and Margie Endowed Scholarship

In recognition of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s 150th Sesquicentennial Anniversary, David and Margie Chick established The David and Margie Chick Endowed Scholarship.

Mr. Chick attended The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ College of Business Administration, graduating with a degree in marketing in 1974. A four-year apprenticeship with Babcock and Wilcox later provided him with an engineering background from which he built his career as a Lead Estimating Manager for oil and gas projects, both domestically and abroad.

Mrs. Chick earned a nursing degree through a partnership between The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ General Hospital.  She earned a master’s degree in Education and Research from Mercy College in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout her career, she has held a number of roles in the nursing field, including working as a nurse anesthetist, nursing instructor and risk management consultant.

The David and Margie Chick Endowed Scholarship is open to ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ students  enrolled in the College of Business Administration and those pursuing  degrees in marketing. Scholarship assistance will be applied directly to the recipient’s student account and may be used to cover the cost of tuition and fees. Recipients and scholarship award amounts will be determined by the University Scholarship Committee.
