When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Dougherty, James A. Endowed Scholarship in Construction Technology
The James A. Dougherty Endowed Scholarship in Construction Technology was established in memory of James A. Dougherty in 2002 by his colleagues and friends in the construction industry. Dougherty was an ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ native and a lifelong area resident who had a long and distinguished career as a labor negotiator. He served as director of the Labor Relations Division of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Builder’s Exchange for more than 30 years. He was known and respected for his fairness and honesty by both labor and management. Dougherty was active in his community and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
The associations establishing this scholarship are: AGC of Ohio, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Division; Labor Relations Division of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ; Mechanical Contractors Association of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ; and the Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ-Canton-Mansfield.
