When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Baxter, Judge Randolph Scholarship

The Judge Randolph Baxter Scholarship is established in honor of Judge Randolph Baxter of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Ohio. The Honorable Randolph Baxter received his law degree in 1974 from The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ School of Law. The Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati appointed him to the bankruptcy bench in December 1985. Judge Baxter taught Bankruptcy and Advanced Bankruptcy at the School of Law. He was the recipient of the John R. Quine Award as an outstanding Adjunct Professor for the academic year 1992-93. In 1999 he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Law Alumni Association.

This annual award is to be presented to a ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ law student, selected by the dean, who has demonstrated substantial academic achievement in a prescribed course(s) of legal study.
