When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

The Department of Development does not accept applications for or distribute scholarships. Scholarships are distributed through the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid.

Scala Family Endowed Scholarship for Women’s Golf
The Scala Family Endowed Scholarship for Women’s Golf was established in 2016 by William A. “Bill” and Sally A. Scala to recognize the achievements of the women’s golf program, which is celebrating its eighth anniversary as a varsity sport at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ.
Grateful for the opportunities they have been given, Bill and Sally take pride in serving the community and hold philanthropy as a core family value. The couple’s generosity and support extend to organizations in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ and beyond and include deep ties with The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, Archbishop Hoban High School, Holy Family Parish, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Children’s Hospital, the Interval Brotherhood Home, Hattie Larlham, the Ronald McDonald House of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, and others.
Bill and Sally also are longtime Zips supporters and desired to recognize the UA women’s golf program for its commitment to academics and community service. Although small in numbers, the women’s golf team is big in heart and has been the recipient on numerous occasions of the Community Service Award from UA’s Department of Athletics. For this reason, Bill and Sally are pleased to establish a scholarship that recognizes students whose passion and commitment to the community align with values cherished by the Scala Family.
Bill, a 1975 ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ graduate, is president of Kenmore Construction Company and currently serves The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ as a member of the Board of Trustees.
The Scala Family Endowed Scholarship for Women’s Golf will provide will provide one scholarship annually that may be renewed, provided the recipient maintains all requirements. Consideration for the scholarship will be given to members of the women’s golf team at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ who are:
- Full-time students
- Active volunteers
The recipient will be selected by the head coach of the women’s golf team with input from a member of the Scala Family and UA’s director of athletics.
