Nursing School FAQ

Nursing school can be challenging, as it requires mastering complex medical knowledge and skills. However, top nursing schools, including the best nursing schools in Ohio, should provide a supportive environment that empowers you to succeed. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Nursing offers numerous ways to get support, including tutoring, mentorship, a Student Success Center and several nursing learning communities.

Getting into nursing school can be difficult due to competitive admission processes, high academic standards and the need for a strong GPA. However, if you have a history of academic success, a passion for the field and relevant experience, you have an excellent chance of being accepted to one of the best nursing schools in Ohio: UA Nursing. If you meet our GPA and test score requirements, you may qualify for our direct admission option for undergraduates.

What you learn in nursing school depends on the program you choose, but courses generally include human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, nutrition and other sciences. You'll also develop skills such as patient care, leadership and research. UA's nursing programs emphasize experiential learning in skills labs, simulations and clinical settings.

How many years you’ll be in nursing school varies based on your previous education and desired degree. UA's traditional BSN program takes four years. The accelerated second-degree BSN takes 12-16 months. Current RNs may finish their BSN in less than one calendar year. The ADN requires approximately 2.5 years to complete.

MSN programs range from two to three years after the BSN, and post-BSN DNP programs are three years full time.
