Posey, April Memorial Scholarship in Art
The April Posey Memorial Scholarship in Art honors the memory of a promising young artist who died on May 24, 1999, following a brief illness. April excelled academically, receiving many of the top scholarships, and graduated magna cum laude on May 15, 1999. In addition to being an outstanding student, April taught metalsmithing at the Massillon Museum of Art and was a teacher's assistant in ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ's undergraduate metals classes for three years. The scholarship will be awarded to a student with a strong academic background in the Mary Schiller Myers School of Art. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ seeking funds from the scholarship will be required to submit a statement about their artistic work as it relates to the following guidelines. Preference will be given to women majoring in metals who share April's interest in women's issues or political issues. If a qualified candidate cannot be identified, the scholarship shall roll over to the next year. Recipients will be selected by the School of Art Scholarship Committee. Mr. Bleuenstein wishes to be involved in the selection process.
