Mugler, Dr. Dale H. Honors Research Fund

The Dr. Dale H. Mugler Honors Research Fund was established in honor of Dr. Dale H. Mugler by his family, colleagues, friends, and ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Honors College alumni on the occasion of Dr. Mugler’s retirement as Dean of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Honors College. The Dr. Dale H. Mugler Honors Research Fund recognizes Dr. Mugler’s passion for opening doors of opportunity for undergraduate research.

The purpose of The Dr. Dale H. Mugler Honors Research Fund is to support Honors College undergraduate research projects with cash awards. The cash awards shall be made directly to the student and not be included as part of any other financial package. In this regard, students will be eligible for a $1,000 non-renewable award to support at least four weeks of research at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ during the summer months, plus an expense award of $250 to the account of the faculty member who is directing the student’s research. The Dean of the Honors College will set the amounts of the cash awards each year based on available funds.

Dr. Dale H. Mugler will administer the fund and select student recipients of the cash award until his retirement on June 30, 2015. Beginning July 1, 2015, the new Dean of the Honors College will administer The Dr. Dale H. Mugler Honors Research Fund.

ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ applying for The Dr. Dale H. Mugler Honors Research Fund must be current ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Honors College students in good standing who will:

  • Be full-time students at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ
  • Spend at least 20 hours per week on ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ for at least four weeks during the summer to work with a particular faculty member on a research project
  • Complete a competitive award application

The Dr. Dale H. Mugler Honors Research Fund was established with gifts from Drs. Dale H. and Karla T. Mugler, as well as numerous friends and colleagues, including Mr. Steven B. and Mrs. Cheryl Anne (Cherie) Shechter. The fund celebrates Dr. Mugler’s retirement from The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, where he served as Dean of the Honors College since 2005.
