Race to the Finish Line Scholarship Fund
Dennis and Cindy Mitchell established The Race to the Finish Line Scholarship Fund at The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ in December 2014. The Mitchells' affinity for the University and a belief in the importance of higher education led them to create the award. The fund will provide need-based academic awards for students, helping to reduce some financial burden as they work toward graduation.
Dennis and his wife, Cindy, have been associated with The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ since Dennis was hired as head track and field coach more than 19 years ago. The Zips track and field program has achieved unprecedented success under Coach Mitchell’s leadership while Cindy has thrived in the accounting industry for more than 20 years. Cindy earned her accounting degree from The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ College of Business Administration (CBA).
Deserving candidates for the fund will be full-time students who have completed at least 30 credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or better. Preference will be given to upperclassmen (juniors and seniors), as well as those enrolled in the CBA. Special consideration will be given to students who are Pell Grant eligible at the $1,000 and below level. The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Scholarship Committee, in consultation with the Office of Student Financial Aid, will select award recipients.
