Cameos of Caring Endowed Scholarship
At the initiative of Dean Cynthia Flynn Capers, The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s College of Nursing launched a regional event on November 16, 2002, designed to help retain current nurses and recruit new nursing students to the profession by enhancing the image of nursing by publicly honoring outstanding nurses. As part of its Campaign for Nursing’s Future, Johnson & Johnson, wishing to address the key issues causing the nursing shortage, invested in the effort by serving as the Presenting Sponsor. ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ General Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Medical Center of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, and Summa Health System collaborated on the implementation of the event and served as co-sponsoring hospitals. Additionally, Barberton Citizens Hospital and Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital demonstrated their support by participating in the program.
In general, funds in The Cameos of Caring Endowed Scholarship are to be placed in an endowed account, and only the interest will be disbursed, according to University policy. However, upon written instructions from the dean of the College of Nursing to the treasurer of The ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Foundation, up to an additional 5 percent of the principal also may be made available for disbursement in any one year.
